About me

Okay time for the hardest part, talking about myself. Growing up I’ve seen my grandad work where he use to visit Africa with an analog camera which I now own. He had his photos on the wall of subjects such as Lions and Zebras running, kicking up the dust behind them. Seeing these inspired me to do art and media during my GCSEs, even entered the KS3 photography inter house competition and won. Doing all this pushed me to apply and ended up going to West Suffolk Collage doing an Extended Diploma Level 3 in Photography which was also a UAL; I was awarded a Merit. This then allowed me to get into the Universities I applied for.

I ended up choosing Falmouth University to study Marine and Natural History Photography, I even did the Scuba Diving part. Going there allowed me to dive in the Red sea for two weeks then I managed to be chosen to go to the Galapagos Islands. During that trip I helped make a film for the Charles Darwin Foundation along with 14 other students as a team, then also workshops that teacher people how to use cameras. I graduated sadly in 2020, the year everything went up side down and had to find a new third year project with a lockdown, I managed to get a 2.2.

When it comes to my interests I’m not that very interesting. It’s safe to say I’m a geek as I love anime, Pokemon and most of all The legend of Zelda. My love for Zelda even came up in my third year projects with the OG project being animals and death but ended up changing to Hanami which is cherry blossom season in Japan. Doing animals and death also played a part in my love for Corvids. Well I just like Folklore and Mythology over all. Other animals I do also love are: Lions, Wolves, Orcas and Sharks. Currently I own one dog named Athena.

When it comes to hobbies I pole and read at the moment but knowing me it will extend, heck would love to train to be a mermaid, I just need to be able to open my eyes underwater. Dream Places to visit and even photograph include Japan and Australia.

Rooks and Moons

You may have just skipped down to this part which I hope will be easier for me to write. Anyway Rooks and Moons is just the companies name overall. The company is kinda split into three different sections

  • Josephine Tyler Photography: This section is where the nature and wildlife photography is focused. It was just the original name and stays the website link. In this section is where people can buy photo gifts such as the yearly calendar, cards and just prints etc.

  • Josephine Tyler Studios: The Name kinda gives it away. The studio side which deals with clients wherever that is photographing people, still life for furry/feather or sally animals. When it comes to the backdrops it is slowly being added to. Even the set up gets slowly updated. Sometimes you can see me walking with people. Even just messing around with smoke.

  • Rooks and Moons: Now for the main name. It’s really just the more art side that isn’t photography. I did want to keep my art to myself but started to end up wanting to share it more than to see what it would look like as other products. This and my nature side is where my nerdy side can show. From not just creating my own work but also creating fan art. The name itself also tires into my nature with the fact I photography Corvids a lot, even more so Rooks themselves. Moons came from how I use to drew/ paint a lot of things with a moon so why not combine the two.
